Southern Nazarene University
Housing
Southern Nazarene University has both dormitories and apartments on campus for students to live in. A point system is used to decide who gets to live in apartments and who lives in dorms. Students are able to earn points during the regular school year. All incoming freshmen, transfer students, and international students start out living in a dorm where they can meet lots of other SNU students.
All undergraduate students are required to live on SNU's campus. All ASEC students are placed in a dormitory. Students who are admitted to SNU early in the summer almost always have an American roommate. Students who do not start ASEC in the fall are placed with an American roommate as soon as possible. SNU has been very successful in finding Americans who want to live with international students.
ASEC students who are graduate students also live on campus when they arrive. ASEC wants everyone to have the opportunity to live with an American roommate whether they are an undergraduate or graduate student. Having an American roommate gives international students the chance to make new friends and get acquainted with people on campus. Once students make friends, then a few graduate students choose to live off campus, but most want to be close to their friends in the dormitories, and so continue living on campus.
If you want to see what the dorms and apartments look like go to www.snu.edu/housing and you can find links to each of the dorms or apartments. You will also find a floor plan and a list of what is provided and what you should bring with you.
